Here are 5 important questions to ask your dentist if you’re considering Invisalign treatment. It's important to learn everything you need to know before you get started.

How does Invisalign work?

You already know that Invisalign is an alternative to traditional metal braces that can straighten the teeth without using brackets and wires, but you may want to know more about how the clear aligners actually straighten your teeth. Your dentist will be happy to explain how Invisalign's clear aligners move your teeth over the course of your treatment.

How long will my treatment take?

The length of your treatment will depend on your individual needs and oral health concerns. Your Invisalign treatment will continue until your teeth are in their prescribed, corrected positions. That's why only your dentist can give you an accurate idea of how long your treatment will take.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Much like the previous question, the cost of Invisalign depends on the severity of your case. For instance, the more severe the malocclusion, the more aligners you'll need and the more treatment will cost. Your dentist understands your misalignment issues the best and will be able to provide you with an accurate idea of how much treatment will cost. Be sure to ask your dentist at your appointment.

How will Invisalign affect my daily life?

Great news! Invisalign doesn't require you to drastically change your lifestyle or your diet. Unlike orthodontic treatment with traditional metal braces, you can remove the aligners to eat, drink, brush and floss. Your dentist can fill you in on everything you need to know about how to keep your aligners clean as well as other simple tips.

What will happen at the end of my treatment?

After Invisalign treatment is finished most patients wear a retainer to help maintain their newly straightened teeth, but this may differ depending on your unique case. Be sure to ask your dentist what they expect your aftercare will entail.
