Our dentists recommend Invisalign clear custom aligners as an ideal alternative to traditional metal braces because Invisalign has very little impact on your day-to-day routines at home, work or play. Here's why...

Often our patients are surprised at how little Invisalign impacts their day-to-day lives.

Unlike traditional braces Invisalign aligners are removable. That means you can simply take out your Invisalign clear aligners as needed, provided that you make sure you keep them in for 20 to 22 hours every day.

Brushing & Flossing

Whenever it's time to clean your teeth, you can just take your aligners out, so Invisalign won’t have any impact on your at home oral care routines.

In fact, it's common for our patients to experience an improvement in their oral health since they tend to pay more attention to keeping their teeth clean while wearing the aligners.

Eating & Drinking

Invisalign will have no impact on what you eat. All you need to do is remove your aligners at mealtime. Once you have finished eating, brush and floss your teeth then pop your aligners back in place.

Of course you may want to consider making some small adjustments to your eating schedule, such as eating fewer, larger meals rather than snacking regularly. Fewer meals mean less need for brushing.

With your Invisalign aligners in place you are able to drink water, however you should be sure to remove them before you drink any dark, coloured or sugary liquids - they could stain your clear aligners.

Playing Sports

While Invisalign's clear custom aligners help straighten your teeth, they won't protect your teeth from injury. For those patients who play contact sports, it’s best to remove the aligners and wear a sports mouth guard instead. That way, your teeth are protected while while you’re playing and your aligners are safe too.
