Your Invisalign clear aligners won't impact on WHAT you eat, they may however have an affect on WHEN you decide to eat. Here's more from our dentists on how Invisalign may affect your daily diet.

If you choose Invisalign as your orthodontic treatment you won't need to stop eating any of your favourite foods!  You can even continue to enjoy foods like popcorn, which can be problematic for people with traditional braces.

With Invisalign, you simply remove your aligners to eat, clean your teeth, then pop your clear aligners back in place.

That said, you will still need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, which means that you may want to make some adjustments to when and how often you choose to eat.

Skipping The Snacks

If you tend to stick to three meals a day and avoid snacks, then Invisalign will fit easily into your schedule. If, on the other hand, you tend to snack throughout the day and just have one larger meal in the evening, you may want to adjust your eating habits slightly.

Each time you remove your aligners to eat you will need to brush and floss your teeth before returning the aligners to your mouth. Snacking frequently would mean constantly taking out your aligners and brushing your teeth, which can be inconvenient and pretty time consuming as well.

That's why you may find it helpful to switch to eating fewer, larger meals throughout the day and cutting back on snacking.

Drinking More Water

Cool water is the only thing you should drink with your clear aligners in place.

If you're a coffee drinker, or enjoy a glass of red wine at night, you'll need to remove your aligners first and brush your teeth after you've finished your drink. Sugary dark liquids can stain your aligners, and hot liquids could warp them so you will need to take your aligners out when drinking colas or tea.

There's a good chance that, to save time, you will stick to drinking mainly water throughout your day.
