Over the course of your Invisalign® treatment you will be able to enjoy your smile as it transforms, but what can you expect after your treatment is complete?

Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign clear aligners can correct a variety of orthodontic issues from the most simple to more complex. If Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment option for you, then throughout your treatment your dentist will monitor your smile and track your progress, while you enjoy watching your smile as it evolves.

As you gradually move though the phases laid out in your customized treatment plan, you will get closer and closer to that straight smile you've been dreaming of, until finally the transformation is complete! But then what?

Get Out There and Smile

The final day of treatment is always an exciting milestone. You followed your treatment plan and now you have the straighter smile you've always wanted. Congratulations! So, is that it? Not quite.

With any orthodontic treatment, once your teeth have been guided to where you want them, it's going to take a little while for them to settle in. That's where retainers come in.

After your Invisalign treatment is complete you will likely need to wear a retainer to hold your teeth in place while the tissues around each tooth settle. Every smile is unique, but in most cases dentists recommend wearing a retainer full-time for the first six months following Invisalign treatment. If everything is beginning to firm up and settle, then the next step is to move to part-time wear for the next 6 months. Twelve months of retainer wear is typically long enough for your jaw to firm up and hold your teeth in their new corrected positions.
